Schartner Farm

In 1936 Schartner Farm on Route 2 in Exeter began; it was started by Richard Schartner’s (current owner) two uncles and carried on about the same until 1972 when Richard Schartner purchased the farm from his uncles. The farm has flourished and grown ever since thanks to the Schartner family’s attention to detail and the conservative nature, which they built the farm upon.

The farm sells “fruits, flowers, shrubs, and vegetables with Character” according to their sign. The farm undoubtedly lives up to its claims with an unsullied and large open air feel which gives it a nice rustic charm. The farm offers a large variety of fruits, vegetables, breads, and freshly baked pies displayed amongst distinctive antiques which contributes to that rustic country feel. The farm also has many flowers intermingled amongst the produce to enhance it’s charm. In addition there are many more flowers and shrubs in greenhouses out back. As if all this wasn’t enough the farm also offers hayrides to a pumpkin patch and corn maze from from 11am-4:30pm on weekends Sept. 1 - Oct. 31

“People can see where their food is being grown and who is growing it. That’s important to them, and part of why we’ve been around for so long,” says co-owner Nancy Schartner. quote rimonthly.com

The farm is open daily, year-round, from 8 a.m. to dusk.

Brewed Awakenings starstarstarstar

Brewed Awakenings is located in South County Commons (Wakefield). It has a very relaxed “village” feel to it at night, with the sidewalks all around lit up. There is also a movie theater nearby, so it’s a great place to stop by on the way to or from a movie.
